Galatians 3:26-29

26 “For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.”
27 “For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.”
28 “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”
29 “And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, heirs according to promise.”

How Faith Makes Us Abraham’s Seed

Let’s focus on that key verse:

“And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, heirs according to promise.”

Here’s how I want to explore it:

1. “If you belong to Christ…”—This means believing in Jesus Christ, accepting Him as Lord and Savior, unites you with Him by faith.

2. “…then you are Abraham’s seed…”—In the Old Testament, God promised Abraham that through his descendant (seed), all nations would be blessed (Genesis 22:18). Paul explains earlier in Galatians 3:16 that this seed is Christ. To be “Abraham’s seed” means you are part of Abraham’s spiritual family, belonging to the family of faith because you are in Christ, the true Seed.

3. “…heirs according to promise.”—All believers are heirs of the spiritual blessings of the Abrahamic Covenant—justification by faith (Gen. 15:6; cf. Rom. 4:3–11).

Also, consider Romans 9:6-8, which clarifies that not all who are descended from Israel are truly Israel, nor are all children of Abraham his true offspring, because they are born naturally. Paul says:

“For not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel,
and not all are children of Abraham because they are his offspring;
but ‘Through Isaac shall your offspring be named.’” (Romans 9:6–8)

So, being “children of the flesh” does not make someone God’s child. The true children of God are those who believe in His promise, fulfilled in Jesus Christ. They are the heirs of God’s blessings, regardless of natural descent.

Now, let’s look at a conversation Jesus had with the Pharisees:

Verses:

“And you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”

“We are Abraham’s seed and have never been enslaved to anyone. How can You say, ‘You will become free’?”

The Pharisees did not understand what it truly means to be Abraham’s seed. Remember, to be Abraham’s seed is to be part of the spiritual family in Christ.

If someone isn’t in Christ’s seed, then they are not part of this spiritual blessing, have no faith, and are not part of Abraham’s family.

Jesus said:

“Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who sins is the slave of sin.”

They responded:

39 Abraham is our father.” Jesus challenged: (b)If you are Abraham’s children, you would do the deeds of Abraham.” They insisted:

41 We were not born of sexual immorality; we have one Father: God.”

Jesus replied:

42 If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and have come from God.”

He pointed out that true Abraham’s children show faith and obedience, just like Abraham did. However, these people were acting against God, revealing their true father was not Abraham, but the devil, because they opposed God’s truth.

This conflict continued until verse 48, where they accused Jesus of having a demon. This shows how deep unbelief can go—people often think that just believing in Jesus is enough for salvation. Others might say they trust in God but struggle with accepting His saving righteousness.

Through faith in Jesus, everyone can receive blessings. All nations(all beleivers true the world ) are  justified through Him, the brother of believers:

28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”

29  And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, heirs according to promise.”
