Once lost,Now chosen our identity is in christ
Peter 2: 10 Once you were not people, you are now God’s people. Once, you are not forgiven , but now you have been forgiven
The Bible distinguishes before the cross and after the cross. The sea without Jesus is different from the sea without him, even though it may seem the same, the end is different.
When the Bible says that the past was before the cross, before accepting Jesus, things were in the old covenant of the law.
But when it says now, it is talking about the time of the new covenant in your life!
Before Jesus came, some things had not been done in us: we were not God’s people, (we were of the devil), and we could not be forgiven (we were sinners).
Now it is different from before. We are God’s people and we have been forgiven.
So, should we ask for forgiveness or be grateful for it if we have been forgiven? Should we ask to be God’s people or be proud to be God’s people?
Are God’s people nurturing, righteous or corrupt, sinful? If God is closed and no one opens, and He is the one who has cleansed us, what else can defile us? Can a person be God’s people today and change their race tomorrow?
- John 10:29 (LSB) – “My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all, and no one can snatch them out of the Father’s hand.”
- Romans 8:38-39 (LSB) – “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
- Isaiah 43:1-2 (LSB) – “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine! When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overflow you.”
- 2 Timothy 1:12 (LSB) – “For I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day.”
- Jude 1:24 (LSB) – “Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy.”
- Peter 1:23-25 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever
We are incorruptible people of God, and we are kept joy for eternity. God’s people do not change, and so do God’s children are always His. Let us choose to live now being connected to Christ rather than dwell in the past
