Having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.  Romans 5:1

Peace With God

God’s Peace is not just a feeling; it is a deep and eternal rest for the soul

It does not come from our surroundings or life circumstances.

It is not like the world’s peace, which changes with situations; it is a lasting peace, rooted in what Christ has done

I have spent about a week thinking deeply about what it means to have peace with God, especially the second part of Romans 5:1:
We have peace with God. through our Lord Jesus Christ

    • We are no longer in conflict with God.
    • Our sins have been completely forgiven.
    • We now belong to God as His children.

This phrase amazes me. We don’t often pause to think deeply about what it means to have peace with the Almighty. Even we, as believers who have been saved, sometimes take it lightly. I’m not saying unbelievers can understand this peace—because Scripture says the things of God are foolishness to the natural man—but even we, who know the truth, understand so little.

It’s not because God made it hard to understand, but because we are often too lazy to study His Word. We don’t dig deep to grasp what it means to be at peace with God.

The Pain of No Peace

I’ve lived in different places, cultures, families, schools, jobs, and countries. I’ve seen and felt what it’s like not to have peace—with friends, family, neighbors, and even between nations. The absence of peace brings insecurity, fear, pain, brokenness, and anxiety. It ruins relationships and communities.

And if a lack of peace between people or countries causes so much suffering, how much worse is it to have no peace with God spiritually?

This is not something small. This is terrifying. It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”

Hebrews 10:31  . In the same chapter, verses 29–30, God speaks of judgment for those who trample His Son underfoot.”How much worse is the punishment for them ? “.

How can the world ignore this truth? People don’t think about what it means not to have peace with God. They live in sin and don’t realize that God will punish sin.

Historical Judgment and Human Evil

 Human Evil
We see how, in Noah’s time, the whole world was separated from God because of sin—and God judged the earth with a flood. He covered the world entirely with water to punish evil. Imagine: I’ve never been to every corner of the world, yet God filled the entire earth with water to punish their sin. People died, Animals died. Trees and all life on Earth were destroyed

Then think of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan. I was shocked when I first learned about what happened there. War, destruction, and death came because two nations had no peace. And the effects of that nuclear bomb are still felt today. It shows what comes from an evil heart as the consequence of sin.

Consequences of Sin

Here’s what Scripture says about what followed after Adam sinned:

1. Cursed the Ground Because of Him

“Cursed is the ground because of you; In toil you will eat of it all the days of your life.”
Genesis 3:17
“By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread…”
Genesis 3:19 God made life harder because of Adam’s sin. He cursed the ground and introduced pain, suffering, and death into human life.

The Source of Evil: The Human Heart

The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately sick; who can understand it?” Jeremiah 17:9

“From within, out of the heart of men, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder…”
Mark 7:21 ,22

The Bible tells us that all the evil we see—killing, lying, destruction, hatred—comes from the heart of man. Because of sin, God judges the earth.

Still No Peace

With all of this—war, judgment, sin, suffering—still, a human being has no peace with God because of their sin

So what then? How can a human being come to have peace with God?

Two Realities in This Passing Life

During this short life, God gives us two options:

  1. He provided a way for peace through the death of His Son for your sin.
  2. Eternal judgment to those who believe not in his son.

Because of Adam’s sin, God punished humanity.

  1. Much of the evil and suffering in this life is the result of sin.
  2. God will punish sin after death with eternal punishment.
    That judgment is coming.
  3. Now is the time of grace.
This short life is the opportunity God gives us to repent and repair our broken relationship with Him.

After death, there is no more time to repent.
If someone dies without believing in Jesus, eternal punishment is waiting.

And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment.”
(Hebrews 9:27)

Where their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.”
Mark 9:48 (quoting Isaiah 66:24)

This will be the final and eternal judgment for those who reject God’s  Peace through his only begotten son, Jesus Christ.

Jesus: The Only Way to Peace

He who was delivered over on account of our transgressions, and was raised on account of our justification.

Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we boast in hope of the glory of God. And not only this, but we also boast in our afflictions, knowing that affliction brings about perseverance;”

(Romans 4:25 5:3 LSB)

God sent His only beloved Son to die for us. Through His blood, He purchased us and brought us back into peace with God. Yet many people today don’t care about this. The Gospel is being shared. God sends preachers to call people back to Him—to be reconciled to God and have peace through Christ Jesus.

This is what I’ve been thinking about: peace with God through Jesus Christ.
It’s only through His death that we can truly receive peace, joy, salvation, and eternal life, instead of eternal judgment.

The Final Judgment is Coming

“Where their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.”
Mark 9:48 (quoting Isaiah 66:24)

This will be the final and eternal judgment for those who reject God’s  Peace through his only begotten son, Jesus Christ.
